Why won't my grill work in freezing temperatures?

Quick answer

Grills struggle in freezing weather when propane pressure drops, regulators frost over during heavy draw, or valves ice up from moisture. Warm the tank slightly in place (never indoors), reduce burner count to lower flow, reset the regulator, and preheat longer with the lid closed.

Regulator frost

High flow on a cold tank can frost the regulator and restrict gas — run fewer burners or pause 5 minutes to thaw.

Not actually broken

Many "won't light" cold calls are low pressure or bypass — reset procedure often restores heat once tank warms above extreme cold.
