How do I keep burgers from sticking to the grill?

Prevent sticking by preheating grates 10+ minutes, cleaning and oiling just before food goes on, and not flipping until the patty releases naturally — usually 3–4 minutes on a hot grate. Dry the meat surface, avoid over-working the grind, and use 80/20 beef for better fat render.

Anti-stick routine

  1. Preheat on high with lid closed.
  2. Scrape grates, then oil with high-smoke-point oil on a folded towel (tongs).
  3. Place patties; do not press out all the fat immediately.
  4. Wait until edges darken and release before flipping once.
