Why are my grill flames low?
Quick answer
Low orange or weak blue flames usually mean low fuel, a regulator in bypass mode, partially clogged burners, or restricted airflow. Reset the regulator by turning off the tank, disconnecting, waiting, then reconnecting slowly with all grill knobs off. Clean burners if flames remain uneven after reset.
Regulator bypass
Modern regulators limit flow after a leak is suspected. A full reset often restores normal flame height if hoses are intact.
Other causes
- Low tank — check fill level
- Insect nests in burner tubes
- Corroded burner ports
- Wind without lid use
