Why is only one burner working on my grill?

Quick answer

When only one burner works, the others often have clogged tubes, stuck valve stems, or debris in the manifold. Remove grates and flavorizer bars, inspect each tube for nests or rust, and try lighting the problem burner manually while others are off. Replace damaged burner tubes rather than forcing fuel through blockages.

Per-burner diagnosis

  1. Turn off gas; remove grates and heat shields.
  2. Brush burner ports and inspect for spider webs inside tubes.
  3. Work the burner valve knob — it should click and feel consistent with working burners.
  4. Light manually at the port to see if gas reaches that burner.
  5. Replace cracked or rust-through burners.
